The Rough Draft

We’re rolling hot. While one feature stalls at the gate, the other rolls forward. Funding is partially in place and a coproduction agreement is on the way. We’re talking to possible cast and getting our ducks all in a row. For the first time in a long while, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I can pretty much count the days to when it gets here. And while the other project might have stalled, I’m getting consistent positive reviews on the writing, which I’ll take over cash right now.

My current treatment’s done with just the refining of the story for pitching to be done and I’m working on a brand new spec script for the first time in many months.

All in all it’s going swimmingly well right now.

I’ll fill in the details as I can and they occur.

Well it looks like Word Press is up to it’s old tricks and is deleting my blog files again. I can’t figure out what’s going on unless it’s some bastard hacker mucking about, which has happened from time to time.

So right now, we’re in the thick of casting on the one film. The other project has been laid slightly low by the loss of our US producer due to his need for us to secure a Canadian producer (whatever). Casting of course has it’s own ups and downs. We approach some talent only to find that their quote has gone up and lifted them out of our budget range. Others we like but the finance side not so much because they’re either not there yet (which would place them outside our means anyway) or are considered problematic because of past performances (and we’re not talking on screen antics here). To which I just have to say, Robert Downey Junior.

I mean he was given more than a few comeback chances…
